November BFOA Board Meeting – Minutes                                           11/2/09

Meeting took place at South Plantation HS

Start:
6:25 pm  Present: Taglienti, Epstein, Gazzano, Simpson, Bowen, Sager, Craven

Not Present: Baker, Davis, Winston

Board Liability Insurance: Epstein made a motion that we purchase the board, liability insurance up to the maximum amount of $897 as non members of NASO, however we should look for a cheaper alternative or have all board members join NASO.  Second by Bowen, all in favor, motion passed.

Security Issues:  Tag emailed Rocky Gillis about the complaints received from crews about recent security issues at games sites. Rocky then forwarded that email to all Athletic Director’s in the county. Gazzano brought up other issues since this email was sent and Tag advised he will advise Gillis again.

Amendments: Simpson will hand out amendments tonight for members to review and vote on.

Banquet: We know that member Robert Silver is the Chairman of the Banquet Committee however we have not seen him at the past few general membership meetings (excused absences), so we have assigned board member Bryan Davis to liaison so we can get some updates as it is coming up very soon.

Field Clinic: Very preliminary discussions were had about scrimmage formats, location, dates, volunteers, potential coordinator/director of Field Clinic.

Changes to Playoff Crews: Member Jeremy Shamash has been removed from the playoff crews due to his FHSAA suspension from football officiating.

Budget: Simpson discussed the proposed budget with the board and the available options at various dues prices for next year. Simpson recommends we go no lower then $35 for dues next year. Members will vote by show of hands tonight on dues for next year.

Playoff Hosting: Bowen gave a preview of what he plans for members who are hosting playoffs games this year. Gazzano made a motion that members who host a playoff game will receive $75, and if they hold the box (down indictor) they will receive an additional $25. Second by Bowen, all in favor, motion passed.

Pink Whistle Week 2010: Bowen & Gazzano made a suggestion that we solicit the FHSAA next year that they make the Breast Cancer Awareness “week” a “month” in duration instead. This way officials will have more then one game to wear them.

Meeting Adjourned:  7 pm
