BFOA Board Meeting
– Minutes
7/20/08
Meeting took place at Tye Sager’s house
Start: 4:21pm, Present: Craven, Taglienti, Baker, Gazzano, Bowen,
Liese, Winston, Sager
Not Present: Davis, Getzoff
Two Referee Replacements:
Ballots for the white hat position were counted and validated
by Tom Winston (Non voting board member). Craven advised that he
will notify prior to the board who has been selected and who has
not. Guy Taglienti will talk about what the process was used for
selection of the crew chiefs. The new Crew Chiefs will be Teddy
Brown and Martin Fein. They next step is, Steve Ciardello has
offered to train a “Crew Chief in training.” The motion was made
by Baker that we vote on the trainee, seconded by Bowen, all in
favor, motion passed. After a vote by the board, Bob McKinney was
selected to be the trainee for Steve Ciardello. Both Steve and Bob
were called and accepted that assignment. This position as trainee
doesn’t give card blanche that McKinney will become the next crew
chief, he will still have to go through the next selection
process.
Varsity Officials Recommendation:
Tye Sager stated that this year he has a an exceptional number
of officials he would like to recommend be placed on the varsity
eligible or varsity alternate list. On the list are: Grantis Bell,
Tom Connard, John Fusaro, Shane Griffin, Don Hilton, Derwin Moore,
Thannis Saintil, and Louis Srour. A discussion was had about their
abilities and afterwards a vote by the board. Winston tabulated
the vote with the outcome being: Bell, Connard, Fusaro, Griffin,
Hilton and Moore will be added to the Varsity eligible list. Srour
and Saintil will be added to the Varsity Alternate list. (Saintil
will be held off until he pays his BFOA dues)
Training:
Tom Winston asked that Guy Taglienti be a guest trainer at the
General Membership meeting on September 8th. He agreed
and they will finalize that training amongst themselves. Tom wants
to use more active officials this way the membership is getting
some training from officials that are on the field as well as from
his point of view. Bruce Walker will also be a guest trainer this
year.
New Business:
BFOA Hall Of
Fame:
Tye Sager brought up the idea of starting a BFOA Hall of Fame.
Gazzano made a motion to allow Tye Sager to look into this and
come up with a plan for set up, membership requirements and the
logistics involved, seconded by Liese, all in favor, motion
passed.
Membership
Arrests:
In the unfortunate event that one of members is arrested for
anything, make sure you contact the BFOA Commissioner, Tye Sager
ASAP. He will advise you on what is the next step and if/when the
FHSAA will be contacted.
