Meeting – Minutes
4/26/09
Meeting took place at the residence of Steve Epstein
Start: 3:04 pm Present: Taglienti, Epstein, Gazzano, Simpson,
Bowen, Davis, Craven
Not
Present: Baker, Sager, Winston
White Hat
Candidates:
Collura, Erickson, Gazzano, Hickey, Klemm, McKinney, Rodwell, and
Warren have expressed interest in becoming a Varsity Referee in
the association. A discussion was had that all the interested
officials should be evaluated in the spring at the Referee
position. Referee evaluations will be done on all candidates
including pregame as long as an evaluator is available to do the
game.
Spring
Assignments: Tye has posted the spring schedule on gremlins.
Spring
Evaluations:
Davis will get
an email out to evaluators in the association to evaluate
officials identified by the board to be evaluated for the spring
games. The email will be sent to select officials to evaluate and
who will be evaluated.
Candidates
Attending Spring Games & Candidate Training:
The board will encourage/invite new recruits to attend spring games to
work the chains and/or observe the varsity crews in action. Tom
Zace and Tom Winston will advise at the June board meeting
when/where the new recruit training will be. During meetings this
year, Tom Zace will take the new guys/girls to another training
room to cover specific training topics.
White Hat
Application Process:
Evaluation and
set of questions will be part of the interview process. A further
discussion will be had at the June board meeting to determine what
the process will be for the white hat candidates.
Varsity Crew
Selection, Draft, Crew Freezes & Number of Crews:
Tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 9th.
White hats will be able to freeze up to 2 officials for their
crew. Simpson made a motion to allow the white hat to freeze up
to 2 officials for this year. Seconded by Davis, all in favor,
motion passed. Number of crews will be determined when we have the
final registration numbers in.
Attendance at
Meetings:
The board will
start to hold members accountable if they don’t show up for
meetings (inexcusable absence). Reminder to members: If
you can’t make a general membership meeting please notify John
Gazzano (Recording Secretary) @
jgazzano@yahoo.com.
Banquets vs.
Shirts:
Contact will be
made with Vince Mundo to do a Zoomerang survey via the internet
with specific options. Costs of the shirt and banquet would have
to be determined before doing the survey.
Payment to
Webmaster:
Davis made a
motion to pay Vince Mundo $500, for web services. Second by
Gazzano, all in favor, motion passed.
Communication to
Membership:
This is the board’s responsibility.
Game Reports:
Report comments on the Gremlins system are public information and
can be viewed by those who don’t log into the gremlins system.
Simpson made a suggestion to make those private and for the
Association’s information and not viewable by anyone who wants to
read them (Should be members only). The game card that is created
by the gremlins system currently has the crew chief’s employment,
it was suggested that be removed from the form.
FHSAA
Officiating Leadership Conference:
Taglienti will
be attending on June 5-6, 2009 in Orlando.
Changing
Upcoming Board Meeting Dates:
Epstein made a
motion to change the upcoming board meeting in May to 5/31
and the June 14th meeting to June 28th.
Second by Simpson, all in favor, motion passed.
